Sunrise Real Estate volunteers with London Wildlife Trust

Sunrise Real Estate ("Sunrise") is proud to have partnered with London Wildlife Trust for two volunteering days at Gunnersbury Triangle and Walthamstow Wetlands.
These two nature reserves hold a particular significance for Sunrise as several of its employees live close to both sites, and two of its latest developments, Park Royal and Hanger Lane, sit right on the doorstep of Gunnersbury Triangle.
London Wildlife Trust is the only charity dedicated solely to protecting the capital's wildlife and wild spaces, managing 36 free-to-access nature reserves across the city. Gunnersbury Triangle is a Local Nature Reserve tucked between residential streets in Chiswick, while Walthamstow Wetlands is one of Europe's largest urban wetland reserves. Both require ongoing, practical conservation work to keep them thriving.
At Walthamstow Wetlands, the Sunrise team split into pairs and worked across different areas of woodland. Tasks included cutting back trees to allow more sunlight through and encourage new ground growth, building dead hedges from the cut branches to provide shelter for local wildlife, clearing weeds, preparing soil for wildflowers and removing ivy spreading around tree roots.
At Gunnersbury Triangle, the team divided into two groups: one working on the ground rooting out poison ivy and bramble, and the other wading knee-deep into the ponds to loosen the soil beneath the water.
Both days finished with a guided nature walk led by Aaron from LWT, introducing the team to the species that inhabit these reserves and the wildlife they might encounter locally.
Initiatives such as this form part of Sunrise’s wider focus on biodiversity, nature, and sustainability, where it aims to improve green cover, protect wildlife and create net environmental gains alongside strong returns on investment.
Jenny Wang, COO, Sunrise Real Estate said:
“These volunteering days were a great way to spend time together as a team while doing something worthwhile. So many of us live and work in these areas, so being able to give something back to the green spaces on our doorstep felt special. We're proud to play even a small part in protecting them for years to come, as we remain committed to sustainability as part of our wider investment strategy.”
Laurence Taylor, COO, London Wildlife Trust said:
"We are delighted to host two Wild Work Days for Sunrise-re on our nature reserves. These hands-on days give teams the opportunity to connect and bond in nature while making a meaningful environmental impact through practical conservation work. By supporting the Trust with the management of our reserves, participants directly contribute to improving habitats and enhancing biodiversity to protect London’s wild spaces for nature and people."
